TEA, Inc., Cascade, and 40,000 Gallons of SourceKill™ EZ-Flow

Working in partnership with Cascade Environmental, TEA, Inc. announces that it has recently completed the successful manufacturing and delivery of 40,000 gallons of its new SourceKill™ product, called “SourceKill™ EZ-Flow”, to a government site in the Southeastern US for the remediation of chlorinated solvent source areas.

According to Dr. Bradley Droy, President and CEO of TEA, Inc.: “This is a great milestone in the continuing development and improvement of our EZVI product line.  SourceKill™ EZ-Flow is a less viscous, emulsion blend which allows for easier injectability, better radius of influence during injection and better applicability in tighter formations or lower temperature environments while staying true to the NASA patent.”

SourceKill™ is an enhanced version of NASA’s Emulsified Zero Valent Iron (“EZVI”).  Considered an in-situ source DNAPL product, it has a twenty-year track record of success in treating chlorinated solvents in multiple lithologies and soil types.  The uniqueness of “hiding” the micron-sized reactive ZVI in an oil-in-water emulsion, allows SourceKill™ to meld with DNAPL to directly deliver the reactive iron to ensure maximum contact and reductive dechlorination of the DNAPL. Using this emulsion, and the capability to pinpoint target source DNAPL zones, can cut chlorinated solvent remediation costs up to half over other technologies.

Russ Copeland, P.E., TEA’s Director of Remediation Sciences, says: “I have worked with EZVI for fifteen years and I can honestly say this is the best emulsion we have made.  I took up Brad’s challenge to re-formulate the blending process while keeping the EZVI’s rich micellular structure in place to make a better emulsion.  The injector loved the new EZ-Flow product and was able to meet all injection milestones.”

“I am proud of the team that Russ heads up that has led to this new formulation.  TEA continues to provide the nation’s premier source DNAPL destruction product   and we will continue to improve our product to make it ever better in the future”, says Droy.
